Mayor John Street and same-sex commitment ceremonies?  Well, they're been stranger political bedfellows before (Pardon the pun).

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on 11.19.07 that Street will, indeed, preside over his first-ever same sex commitment ceremony for his longtime colleague (and friend) Micah Mahjoubian, this Saturday (11.24.07), in City Hall.

Mahjoubian, a longtime openly gay Street supporter who has worked in the mayor's office for several years, asked the soon-to-be-ex mayor to officiate at his commitment ceremony between himself and his domestic partner, Ryan Bunch. As the story goes, Street responded in the affirmative, without even flinching.
