The news media reported that Philadelphia Mayor John Street spend upwards of 14 hours camped out at the AT&T phone store at 16th & Ranstead Sts., awaiting the arrival of Apple's new iPhone gadget.  News reports have His Honor arriving at the location at 3:30 AM, June 29 and spending the better part of that day waiting in line to make his purchase. (I guess the Mayor didn't realize that Friday was a WORK DAY or what passes for work for this mayor).

I was reminded of the old Roman story of Nero playing his fiddle while Rome was burning. As with Nero, Mr. Street is clueless. He joins the other clueless one-- Dumbya, who resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC. The only solace I can take from any of this is that Mr. Street's tenure ends in about 6 months and Bush's ends in about 19 months!

Fortunately, Mayor-in-Waiting, Michael Nutter did not give His Honor a pass on this one--correctly pointing out that Mr. Street will have to answer to the hardworking, taxpaying citizens of Philadelphia for his work day of waiting for Apple's latest gadget.
